Working Together Toward Our Goals

A message from our President and CEO Jeff Keebler.

MGE Ceo Jeff Keebler

To Our Valued Customers:

Since announcing our Energy 2030 framework, we have moved forward on a number of new initiatives. Our efforts reflect the valuable input we have received from customers and stakeholders, and we wanted to give you an update.

Under Energy 2030, MGE committed to reducing carbon emissions 40% by 2030. Beyond 2030, we are committed to reducing carbon emissions at least 80% by 2050. And, if we can go further faster by working together with you—our customers—we will.

Our commitments align with the goals of the U.S. Mid-Century Strategy (MCS) for Deep Decarbonization. The MCS is the U.S. strategy for meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change to limit global temperature increases to two degrees. MGE's goals are consistent with the U.S. emissions targets and the 2-degree scenario.

Here is an update on some of our recent initiatives:

Partnering with the City of Madison

In addition, we are helping to transform transportation in the Madison area by advancing electric vehicles through partnerships with our customers at homes, at businesses and with fleets. The electrification of transportation is recognized nationally as a key strategy for reducing carbon emissions.

We have partnered with the City of Madison Metro Transit to secure federal funding for electric buses and charging infrastructure. The City has a goal to electrify 50% of our community's buses by 2035. MGE provided financial and in-kind support as well as expertise to support the City's electrification efforts.

Partnering with residential and business customers

Also important is our continued work to help customers use energy efficiently with technology-based programs to reduce and manage their energy use.

We thank our customers for partnering with us, and we look forward to building a cleaner, smarter energy future together.
