Visit with MGE to Learn About EVs

MGE will have its Chevy Bolt and staff at a series of events this summer to help drivers learn about the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs).

If you've ever wondered whether an EV is right for you but haven't had time to do the research, MGE is here to help. We'll have our new all-electric Chevy Bolt at a series of community events this summer where you can learn about the benefits of EVs from our energy experts.

EVs of all kinds expected by the year 2020

Sales of EVs continue to grow as car makers expand their offerings and the battery range continues to increase. The Bolt can travel on battery up to 238 miles! Think of how many miles you travel each day. And, it's quick! The Bolt can go zero to 60 miles per hour in fewer than seven seconds, so you're not sacrificing performance by going all electric.

Research by Bloomberg New Energy Finance puts the number of EV models at more than 120 by the year 2020! Car makers are investing heavily into developing EVs of all types.

Chevy Bolt Charging Station

EVs are more environmentally friendly

All-electric vehicles have no fuel tank and no tailpipe emissions. Drivers save on gasoline and maintenance costs because there is no combustion engine.

And, today's EVs can charge faster. For example, the Bolt is available with a fast-charging system, which means it can be charged in fewer than 30 minutes for travel up to 90 miles. There are four fast chargers in the Madison area. MGE has a public charging network of 27 total stations.
