A Home Energy Assessment in Monona

Identify areas where your home is losing energy.

Old man winter has returned—making now an opportune time to make sure your home is energy efficient! Finding and fixing air leaks can help you save energy.

A home energy assessment can pinpoint which upgrades could improve your home's performance and increase comfort.  MGE partners with the Monona Public Library to support its Eco Action Tuesdays, weekly discussions around sustainability and actions everyone can take to reduce their impact.

In November, MGE teamed up with Eco Action Tuesday organizers and Focus on Energy to highlight a home energy assessment in Monona. Watch the video to see how it works.

MGE customers can sign up for an assessment through Focus on Energy. Here's what to expect:

  • Visual inspection of your entire home.
  • Blower door test to create an artificial wind to help discover any leaks.
  • Combustion safety test to ensure furnace and water heater are operating correctly.
  • Infrared camera scan to identify where insulation in your walls is lacking.

Saving energy is practicing good environmental stewardship. If we all conserve, we can collectively make an impact, reduce our footprint and save costs in the long term.
