Save Time and Energy by Cooking Electric

Electric pressure cookers and air fryers help save time and energy!

While most people enjoy a home-cooked meal or dessert, turning on the oven or stove is often the last thing you may want to do after a long day. In addition to slow cookers and toaster ovens, electric pressure cookers and air fryers offer solutions for efficiently cooking up delicious food at home in no time!

Air fryers

Contrary to the name, air fryers aren’t just for cooking up fries or chicken strips. Making a pizza, nachos or even pie? Consider using an air fryer instead of the oven. These appliances use about one-third to one-half as much energy as a full-sized oven and often reduce cooking time as well. At anywhere from about 1,000 to 1,800 watts, air fryers use much less energy than an oven and they also preheat quickly. Ovens use about 2,400 watts on average. Here’s a quick look at how much time (and energy) you could save.
  • Mini-pie—Oven cook time: 30 minutes; Air fryer cook time: 10 minutes
  • Chicken wings—Oven cook time: 40 minutes; Air fryer cook time: 25 minutes

Electric pressure cookers

Want a roast in less than two hours? Want to make chili for dinner, but it’s already 5 o’clock? Electric pressure cookers shorten cooking time with less heat in the kitchen and less energy use than traditional stovetops. At about 1,000 watts, electric pressure cookers save energy and use about half as much as an oven. Here’s a quick look at how much time (and energy) you could save.
  • Beef roast—Oven cook time: About 3 hours; Electric pressure cooker time: About 2 hours
  • Chili—Stovetop cook time: 6 hours or longer; Electric pressure cooker time: About an hour
  • Roasted whole chicken—Oven cook time: About an hour and a half; Electric pressure cooker time: About an hour or less
